President von der Leyen at the European Industry Summit

The Clean Industrial Deal presented at the European Industry Summit in Antwerp, Belgium aims to support EU’s competitive industries and create quality jobs. It is one of the proposals due within the first 100 days of President von der Leyen’s second mandate, focusing on the goals set out in the European Green Deal, decarbonise our economy and bring down energy prices.

Commission’s response is based on:

o Investing in clean energy infrastructure and technologies
o Securing supplies of raw materials, clean energy and clean tech with the development of clean trade and investment partnerships.
o Activating and extending our aggregate demand mechanism to go beyond gas and include hydrogen and critical raw materials. Announcing the file last year, the President underlined the following key principles:
o Commitment to staying the course on the goals of the European Green Deal.
o Better support and accompany people and businesses along the way, including our industries and SMEs, our innovators and our workers. >
o One of the biggest challenges facing our companies is high energy prices. To counter this, we will invest in clean energy technology.
